Graphic Design Internship
Eventica is a well established company with over 16 years of experience in organisation, management and design of b2b, social and cultural events as well as a dynamic range of PR, media and government relations support. We are looking for a graphic design intern to be involved in day-to-day company’s work as we are getting prepared for some very exciting Olympic related projects next year. It is an ideal opportunity to gain experience in a fast moving environment and learn how the events are created.

Immediate start, 1-3 month internships available.

Hours: 9:00 – 18:00
Expenses paid, £120 per week.

More B-Hive success for Sotiris Theofanous

More exciting news today from B-Hive. Final year graphics student Sotiris Theofanous has been successfully shortlisted in the graphics category and will be presenting his design ideas to the panel of judges next week. 

Judges for graphics are Giles Poyner from Holman , Stephen Walls from Tomorrow People,  Ant Jones from Orb, Gavin Auty from Viva Aspire , Craig Spivey from Vital and
Simon Jolly from Cognition.

We are seeking a visual arts professional who will organise ambitious and stimulating programmes of contemporary art, including exhibitions, commissions and residences, working with regional, national and international artists, galleries and other partners. You will have knowledge and experience of planning and delivering contemporary art programmes with artists working across a wide range of media.

The New Art Gallery Walsall opened in February 2000 in the heart of Walsall town centre. Home to the Garman Ryan Collection and a vibrant programme of contemporary art, it seeks to present the very best in the visual arts and to provide wide-ranging opportunities for artists and audiences.

B-Hive Success for Daniel Dean and Ray Chan

B-Hive, the Midlands based initiative that nurtures creative talent in the areas of marketing, design, PR and digital, is coming to an exciting conclusion. Entries have come come from over 8 Midlands universities and colleges to secure one of 30 prestigious paid placements within high-profile creative companies.

News 'hot off the press' is that 2 Wolverhampton University graphics students have been successfully shortlisted. Daniel Dean and Ray Chan will be presenting their entries to the judges in the end stages of this fiercely contested event. Daniel and Ray, both final year students, have submitted work in the categories of graphic design and marketing. Results  will be out and prize giving takes place on Wednesday 14th March at the Zellig Building, Custard Factory, Birmingham.

Free Box

Graphics MA student Dorothee Schmidt is looking for support with her project.

Dorothee's design initiative is to set up a community freecycle area within the School of Art and Design. Her project, called Free Box is currently located on the ground floor in the MK building. "It is designed to make people happy" she says. So if you see anything you like, just take it, or if you have anything that you no longer want to keep, but that you think others would appreciate, bring it along and contribute.

Public Lecture by Simone Lia

Being a Human Bean.
The lecture will examine Lia’s self-defined projects that explore thoughts of what it is to be human through anthropomorphic characters such as 'Chip and Bean'. She will also introduce her new graphic novel 'Please God! Find Me a Husband!'

Simone Lia works as an illustrator and has written and illustrated several children’s books, comics and a graphic novel called ‘Fluffy’; the story of a bunny in denial. She has a cast of characters who regularly feature in her stories; these include a sausage, a carrot, a chip, a bean and bunnies of various shapes and sizes. These characters have made appearances in The Independent, The Guardian, Building Magazine, The DFC and on the walls of the Tate Britain.

Her latest graphic novel ‘Please God, find me a husband!’ doesn’t feature bunnies or food matter. It was published by Jonathan Cape in April 2011.

One Plain, One Fancy is an on-going Mat Dolphin project, inspired by and dedicated to Duffie Thompson. Creative submissions are welcome from everyone. All you have to do is interpret the phrase ‘One Plain, One Fancy’.
Each submission must be 635 x 635 pixels.
