Digital Design Intern - Blackbridge, Central London

Design Intern
Opportunity for enthusiastic and creative digital design graduates to come and work with us in our studio for 2-4 weeks, with the potential to earn a permanent role within the creative team.
You’ll bring some new thinking to the table, along with a desire to learn and develop your potential within an agency environment. You will be working alongside other digital designers on a variety of live projects for some big brands.
We’re looking for someone with experience designing mainly for web, as well as other digital media. Any coding experience is also preferable.
Your travel costs and expenses will be covered and we’ll make sure you get a few drinks on a Friday night.

The Masters graduation ceremony has recently taken place. Many congratulations must go to all Visual communication MA Graduates who have had the chance to publicly mark their success in the company of other Wolverhampton University Masters graduates, friends and family. The ceremony took place in the plush surroundings of Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre.

Happy Birthday Saul Bass




Saul Bass died in 1996, today would have been his 93 Birthday.


He was born in the Bronx, New York in 1920 and Moved to Los Angeles in his mid 20′s. His graphic design career was already quite successful when his work for Otto Preminger’s 1955 film ‘The Man with the Golden Arm’ became acclaimed. It’s highly stylised poster designs and groundbreaking title sequence gave him worldwide recognition as a leader in the newly established field of film sequence design. He went on to work with with the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese to create some of the most well known imagery in the history of cinema. Saul Bass also created logos and corporate identity systems for United Airlines, AT&T, Minolta, Bell Telephone System and Warner Communications.

We are looking for an exceptional digital designer to join our growing team in Cornwall. You will be a creative thinker with a passion for social change. An ‘ideas person’, an excellent graphic designer, a digital pioneer and a natural problem solver.

About you:
You will have (at least) a few years industry experience, ideally working in an agency environment in a similar creative position. With a desire to work on projects that inspires social action, you will be excited about designing beautiful and responsive digital solutions; and using your creativity to tackle challenges in areas of crime, health, local government and business transformation – for example.

You have good written and verbal communication skills. You’ll be comfortable presenting your ideas to clients. You will know how to create wireframes, storyboards, user experiences, presentations etc. You can hit the ground running.


Creative requirements:
-   Exceptional graphic design skills (which could be in branding, typography, illustration).
-   Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.


Technical requirements:
-   Front-end web build (e.g. practical ability to build in HTML/CSS/jQuery).
-   A clear understanding of usability, accessibility, responsiveness.


Bonus points:
-   You love exploring cool things with APIs.
-   You will be determined to raise the team’s game.
-   You know how to take a good photo or shoot a good film with crisp audio.
-   You can turn your design hands to a bit of everything (e.g. illustration, sketching).
-   Video animation skills.

Graphic/Infographic Designer - Mo Ibrahim Foundation

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation is looking to appoint a designer on a fixed term contract, based in the London headquarters, to assist with the design, layout and publishing of the upcoming Ibrahim Forum publication. 
Position Title: Graphic/Infographic Designer

Reporting to: 2013 Ibrahim Forum Programme Manager
Hours: Full time, fixed term 4 month contract 
(August 2013 – November 2013)
Salary: Pro-rata annual salary

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation was established in 2006 with a focus on the critical importance of leadership and governance in Africa. By providing tools to support advancements in leadership and governance, the Foundation aims to bring about meaningful change on the continent.

One of these tools is the Ibrahim Forum. Established in 2010, the Ibrahim Forum is an annual high-level discussion forum tackling issues of critical importance to Africa. Data and research on Forum issues are compiled by the Foundation as the basis for informed and constructive debate.

Job Summary:
The Foundation is looking to appoint a Designer, based in the London headquarters, to assist with the design, layout and publishing of the upcoming Ibrahim Forum publication. They will also be involved in the design of other research outputs, such as newsletters, blog posts etc, as required.

The successful candidate will be tasked with design of printed and digital collateral that may include brochures, flyers, infographics and large-scale publications and must therefore have both creative vision, and strong experience of using photo editing, vector graphics, desktop publishing and preferably web design programmes, including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, or equivalent other software. Relationships with print suppliers and experience of basic online publishing techniques (for example Issuu) would also be advantageous. 

A demonstrable portfolio of previous publications and artwork is required, including experience of designing infographics.
