You must have top-notch typography skills, a keener than keen eye for detail and the ability to take work right to the finished product.
As part of Team Design/Art Direction, you’ll be able to put your skills to logos, print, posters and digital projects too. And get this, you can even have a go at TV if you like - we have plenty of opportunities to do so.
Adobe Creative Suite experience is super essential and an avid interest in Photoshop would score you bonus points.

Public lecture Michael Salu
Michael Salu Artisitic Director at Granta Publishing, was at the University on the 14th March to give a public lecture in the series of 'from Graduate to Great'.
Michael talked to a packed theatre on topics including developing a creative career, the importance of conceptual development underpinning design, and his belief that theoretical and literary awareness is vital to design practice.

We are currently on the look out for fresh new talent to come and join our studio. We’re a small but efficient team who believe in big ideas and clever solutions to creative problems.
If you are a geek about all things design, full of ideas and happy to get stuck in where possible then we would love to hear from you. In return we can offer experience in a fast paced studio (that’s the swimming bit), the opportunity to own projects and an exciting, creative environment to learn from. A good knowledge of the usual Adobe suite is required.

The Barn are a creative agency producing work for a range of great clients in the fashion and luxury sector. Our work takes a variety of forms; from websites, apps and social media campaigns to packaging, in-store experiences and everything in-between. We are looking for a bright, enthusastic, and self-motivated designer to join us initially on a work experience basis, but with the real opportunity for it to turn into full-time junior position. Naturally you’ll be passionate about digital design, not afraid to contribute ideas, but keen to help out around the studio wherever possible. We’re a small, busy team and as such you’ll be expected to manage you’re time effectively to meet deadlines.
You’ll have an excellent understanding of Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and ideally you’ll have some experience with HTML, CSS and front end development. We’re looking for someone who isn’t just concerned with making things look pretty, you’re also interested in how to build things, and understanding how people use them. You should enjoy keeping up to speed with the latest trends and technologies, be up for a challenge and keen to learn. If this sounds like you, then we’d very much like to hear from you!

B-Hive Success for Mike Leek
Regular readers of this blog will recall previous student success in B- Hive, the annual competition designed to give students a head start in Marketing, PR, Advertising, Graphic Design and Web Design.
The competition is open to second and final year undergraduates, as well as MA students and offers participants the chance to win one of 30 paid placements and this year’s competition is even greater.

Final year graphics student Mike Leek is one of this years finalists and next week he will be presenting solutions to judges. Mike will be showing his designs for the launch of the first 4G academy, a virtual finishing school for the creative industries. His solutions include a new ‘mark’ to work across all forms of media

We are looking for students with a strong portfolio of designs that can be transferred to a t-shirt – this could be graphics, photography or illustrations. As these t-shirts will be limited edition, they need to look edgy, unique, quirky and stand out.
