Junior Web Designer
The Penguin Publishing Group: DK & Rough Guides Web Solutions team are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, self motivated and talented Junior Web Designer to join the team.
You will be supporting the teams lead designer, responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and updating a variety of sites, as well as assisting on new projects. You’ll be able to create compelling and engaging website designs with PhotoShop, bringing them to life using CSS layouts and HTML expertise as well as devising and implementing new features and functionality; you will be part of the development and maintenance of the DK & Rough Guides brands within the context of the digital world.
You’ll need to have a degree or equivalent in new media design or similar. Demonstrable knowledge of information design, usability and accessibility is essential together with an understanding of emerging technologies and a curiosity in the latest trends and advances in web design and development.
Results-orientated, not afraid to stretch yourself and with meticulous attention to detail, you will have a keen appreciation for travel and reference publishing and understand the attractions of our websites for providing content and inspiration.
Applicants should to be able to hand code HTML without the use of WYSIWYG editors. Demonstrate proficient PhotoShop skills and a competent knowledge of Javascript (jQuery). Competent skills with Illustrator, InDesign, Flash and experience with WordPress would be desirable. You will need to provide 3 URLs showcasing your CSS HTML skills and design flair.
