LOST IN TRANSLATION
How are cultural differences reflected within typography?
This meeting of the Typographic Research Initiative explores the parallels and differences between typography of the West and letterforms of the East. Can complex symbols translate into a traditional Western alphabet? Have communication values been lost in translation? Are there hybrid letterforms in this area? Who are the typographic pioneers and where did they begin?
The presentations will culminate in a debate with the audience about their thoughts, expertise and interest to formulate research papers and further work.
