Karikaturum international contest

Karikaturum is an international contest of ironic arts held once every two years.
There are two main categories:

• Cartoon - theme ’Beauty’
• Poster - theme ’The beauty will save the world’

Techniques: painting, graphics, printed graphics (etchings, lithography, xylograph and linocut), collage. 

The cartoons must be original, and the copyright remains to the participant. Photocopies, printouts and works sent by e-mail will not be evaluated. The works that have won awards earlier have to contain information where and when they were awarded. Both individuals and teams of artists can participate in the contest. Any number of works will be accepted from each cartoonist.

There is no entry fee.

Karikaturum is an open contest, where both professional and amateur artists can take part, regardless of their education, age, sex and nationality.

Prize


• First Prize: 100,000 Rubles (approx. 3,200 USD)
• Second Prize: 60,000 Rubles (approx. 1,900 USD)
• Third Prize: 30,000 Rubles (approx. 970 USD)

Moreover, the works sent to the competition may be exhibited in Surgut Fine Arts Museum, other museums, galleries and exhibition halls. The works can also be displayed on the Museum website.

The catalogue will be published after the contest. All authors, whose works will be included into the catalogue by the jury decision, will receive a free copy of the catalogue.

Mindshare Worldwide media agency are looking for graduates with an interest in media to start ASAP full time for three month internships.

Internships at Mindshare are unpaid but interns can expense lunch (up to £7.50 per day and we have a delicious onsite canteen and a bar!) and travel to and from the office in the London and surrounding area.

Metropolis: reflections on the modern city

Metropolis, visions of the modern global city, brings together stunning work by 25 contemporary artists of the highest international standing to Birmingham and includes digital projection, painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media installation. 
Metropolis: Reflections on the modern city is a major showcase of international contemporary artwork jointly collected by Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the New Art Gallery, Walsall and developed in partnership with Ikon Gallery, as part of the £1 million Art Fund International initiative. Now shown together for the first time, these works represent an ambitious and nationally-significant new collection for Birmingham, Walsall and the West Midlands.

Support the creative team to deliver high quality client work
Assist in creating and preparing for pitches
Maintain the brand image of Boxed Red through preparation of web content and printed materials
Participate in generating ideas with the team
Develop a strong understanding of artworking and production methods
Understand and maintain established working processes

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject
The ability to interpret creative briefs from senior members of the team
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
The ability to work independently on a creative brief
Strong typography and layout skills
Excellent time management to accommodate day to day challenges of varied job tasks
A strong team player
Works well under pressure and to tight deadlines

The final workshop for ‘Employability in SAD’ takes place this Thursday, 1-2.00pm in MK045. The topic is ‘Converting Employability in the Creative Industries to the University Employability Award’

It's time to de-clutter your wardrobes, cloakrooms and under the bed. Liberate your loathed loafers and wonky wellies! Donate your too-tight trainers, snazzy slippers or hilarious heels!

Graduate Success - Rachel Collinson

Many Congratulations must go to Rachel Collinson Director of Knowledge Sharing and Innovation, Engaging Networks. Rachel is a graphics graduate who for the last 13 years has been running her own company, Rechord, a web agency specialising in developing websites and campaigns for non-profits.


In your new role at Engaging Networks Rachel, what do you do day-to-day ?
" I spread the word about how best to use our platform for fundraising, campaigning and generally changing the world for the better. This might be by tweeting away furiously, presenting at conferences, advising clients directly or writing courses and blog posts. I also drink way too much Pepsi Max."

This is not a normal Account Executive job. You will be learning and running far beyond your own job title learning from the companys two founders with whom you will be working on a day to day basis.
You will be involved in social media analysis, digital strategy, website development, project execution and creative ideas. You will be shown how our tried and tested 6 pillars of Social Media methodology works and will be given the support and freedom you need to help deliver amazing work for the companys clients.
You will also help with new business and agency marketing and will be shown how to plan and run an effective marketing campaign, send out bulk emails via MailChimp, update the company website and Social Media networks with new content, visit events to network and much more.
This placement will lead to a permanent role with the company for the right candidate.
Person requirements
This is a really important and varied role, so we'll need you to have skills and attributes like:
· Knowledge of online platforms. Experience in stuff like WordPress, Hootsuite and Mailchimp is important. If you don't know your way around these dashboards yet, an ability to learn fast will be even more important.
· Experience of desktop software. Here we're talking PowerPoint, Word and Excel - you'll need to have used all of these.
· Good knowledge of the digital landscape. Do you know Twitter from Pinterest and could you tell a client what a meme is?
· Some financial awareness / experience - invoicing, quoting and all that.
· Good presentation skills - we’ll help you grow them of course
· Excellent communicator. We need people who know the difference between your and you're and can explain ideas, processes and tactics really simply and effectively in writing, plus communicate with clients and partners on the phone and via email.
· Highly motivated - we’re growing fast
