Adobe Design Achievement Awards - Kate Farrell, semi-finalist 2011

Recent graphics graduate Kate Farrell has been selected as a semi-finalist for the prestigious 2011 Adobe Design Achievement Awards - Print Communications category.

Her submission is 'Kern' magazine design based on the article: 'Letters from the 20th Century'(original copy written by Kate herself). Photography of found objects and digital Illustrations personifies the written concept with the mix of images that reference traditional as well as more contemporary design materials.

Kate's design sets out embody an exploration into the future of design, with a focus on originality and influence, particularly investigating type design. Her submission is influenced by the creative ideologies of movements including Dada, Constructivism and Futurism. Kate is taking the time to ask the question, has the digital typeface killed off the appreciation of the design object?
